Tips for Working from Home

Our schedules and daily routines have changed drastically in the last few weeks, and continue to change daily as new updates come in over the COVID-19 pandemic. We are all having to get a little creative to stay on top of things and get work done. We, at The Design Source want to bring you joy and continue to be a source of inspiration for you all, so we thought it would be helpful to share some tips with you to help you stay productive while working from home.

Set and Alarm: It is so important to start our days as normal as possible and that is to get up at the same time everyday. If you like to press snooze, place your phone across the room, so that you have to get out of bed to turn it off.

Make the Bed: Making the bed will help prevent you from getting back in, and will also give you a sense of accomplishment.

Get Dressed: As tempting as it may be to stay in pajamas all day, getting dressed helps you feel more productive. You don't have to go as far as putting a full face of make-up on, though it could help your mood to feel more put together and ready for the day 😉. Check out our post on Cozy Work From Home Outfits

Stay Hydrated: It is always important to drink water throughout the day. Getting at least 64 ounces a day is known to help keep energy levels up. Keep a large glass or fill up a water bottle to make sure you get your ounces in. 💦😊

Have a Workspace: Have you ever tried working from your bed or couch? Yeah it doesn't work. Having a designated place to work keeps you productive. Check out our post on how to Update your Home Office. If you don't have an office or a spare room, use the dining table.

Time Block: If you are one of those who easily gets distracted, set time blocks for 25min where for those 25min you are focused on the task at hand, then take a 5min break between those 25min. This is a great way to keep productivity up and get things done.

Take Breaks: This is So important! Take small breaks to get up and stretch, go outside for a walk and fresh air to help clear the brain.

Prepare Healthy Meals: It may be tempting to eat comfort food and desserts, but preparing and eating healthy foods gives us energy to be productive and stay focused.

Set and End Time: Just like you would leave the office by 5pm, you should set a time to end your day. Spend time with your family hugging them close and be present in those moments with them. 😊

Remember to do what works for you. You may have to try several different routines to find one that works, just be kind to yourself during these times. Hope you found these tips and tricks helpful. These next few weeks won't be easy, but just know that you are not alone!

What are some things that you are doing that has helped during this hard time? We would love to know.
